MEPS Energy Efficiency Certification

Product introduction: Summary of Certification Content The energy consumption performance of electronic and electrical products is increasingly receiving attention from ordinary consumers, and there are certified requirements for energy consumption of electronic and electrical products around the world.Testing&Certification Australia has recently launched MEPS certification for the Australian market. The energy consumption requirements of the Australian government include two aspects: energy labeling and minimum energy consumption standards (MEPS). All electronic products sold in Australia must be accompanied by energy consumption labels when sold:-Refrigerators and ice makers-Washing machine-Clothes dryer-Dishwasher-Air conditioning (single-phase mandatory, three-phase voluntary)The following products also need to be controlled based on the Minimum Energy Consumption Standard (MEPS) - which specifies their minimum energy consumption level:-Refrigerators and ice makers (implemented from October 1, 1999, revised on January 1, 2005)-Main pressure storage electric water heater (implemented from October 1, 1999)-Small main pressure storage electric water heater (-Three phase electric motor (0.73 kW to-Single phase air conditioning (implemented from October 1, 2004, revised on April 1, 2006, 2007, and 2008 respectively)-Three-phase air conditioning with a cooling power of 65 kW (implemented from October 1, 2001, revised on October 1, 2007)-Straight tube fluorescent lamp ballast (from 1 March 2003) Note that in addition to MEPS, the ballast also needs to be labeled with an Efficiency Index (EEI)-Straight tube fluorescent lamp - includes 550mm to 1500mm and has an illumination power greater than 16W (implemented from October 1, 2004)-Distribution Transformers -11 kV and 22 kV grades ranging from 10 kVA to 2.5 MVA (effective October 1, 2004)-Commercial refrigerated cabinets (self contained and remote control system) (implemented from October 1, 2004)Although the following products have not yet been included in the mandatory management catalog, they must also comply with energy consumption standards and obtain certification in the near future, and some of them have already been confirmed for execution.-External power supply (implemented from October 1, 2008);-Set-top box (implemented from October 1, 2008);-Television;-Home entertainment equipment: (audio and video equipment) (implemented from October 1, 2008);-Cold and hot water dispensers;-Vending machines;-Commercial ice maker;-Lamp tube series.

All electronic products sold in Australia must be accompanied by energy consumption labels when sold:

-Refrigerators and ice makers

-Washing machine

-Clothes dryer

-Dishwasher

-Air conditioning (single-phase mandatory, three-phase voluntary)

The following products also need to be controlled based on the Minimum Energy Consumption Standard (MEPS) - which specifies their minimum energy consumption level:

-Refrigerators and ice makers (implemented from October 1, 1999, revised on January 1, 2005)

-Main pressure storage electric water heater (implemented from October 1, 1999)

-Small main pressure storage electric water heater (<80L) and low-pressure heat exchange type (implemented from October 1, 2005) (refer to the limits and testing methods in AGO)

-Three phase electric motor (0.73 kW to<185 kW) (implemented from October 1, 2001, revised in April 2006)

-Single phase air conditioning (implemented from October 1, 2004, revised on April 1, 2006, 2007, and 2008 respectively)

-Three-phase air conditioning with a cooling power of 65 kW (implemented from October 1, 2001, revised on October 1, 2007)

-Straight tube fluorescent lamp ballast (from 1 March 2003) Note that in addition to MEPS, the ballast also needs to be labeled with an Efficiency Index (EEI)

-Straight tube fluorescent lamp - includes 550mm to 1500mm and has an illumination power greater than 16W (implemented from October 1, 2004)

-Distribution Transformers -11 kV and 22 kV grades ranging from 10 kVA to 2.5 MVA (effective October 1, 2004)

-Commercial refrigerated cabinets (self contained and remote control system) (implemented from October 1, 2004)

Although the following products have not yet been included in the mandatory management catalog, they must also comply with energy consumption standards and obtain certification in the near future, and some of them have already been confirmed for execution.

-External power supply (implemented from October 1, 2008);

-Set-top box (implemented from October 1, 2008);

-Television;

-Home entertainment equipment: (audio and video equipment) (implemented from October 1, 2008);

-Cold and hot water dispensers;

-Vending machines;

-Commercial ice maker;

-Lamp tube series.
