Introduction to KC mark certification
The Ministry of knowledge economy (mke) of South Korea announced on August 25, 2008 that the national standards committee will implement a new national unified certification mark called 'KC mark' from July 2009 to December 2010.
The new logo is called KC mark, representing Korea certification. The current 13 mandatory signs will be finally unified under this new sign. One result of this initiative is to reduce the expenditure of suppliers on certification fees and make KC mark in Korea gradually become a certification of a world brand. However, there is a drawback. The recently issued KCC logo will only be implemented for a few years and will eventually be unified under this new KC logo.
Future implementation plan of KC mark certification
December 2008: update of national basic laws and regulations and current decrees
July 2009: mke began to implement the national unified logo
January 2009 - December 2010: improve regulations related to certification standards
January 2011: complete the national unified mark to all compulsory certification
KC mark certified product catalog
KC mark certification products list (KC certified products list) according to the provisions of the Korean electrical supplies safety management law, since January 1, 2009, the safety certification of electrical supplies has been divided into mandatory certification and self regulatory (voluntary) certification.
Compulsory certification means that all electronic products belonging to compulsory products must obtain KC mark certification before they can be sold in the Korean market It is required to accept Factory review and product sampling test every year.
Self regulatory (voluntary) certification means that all electronic products belonging to voluntary products only need to test and obtain certificates, and do not need to be subject to Factory review. The certificate is valid for 5 years.
Technical data to be submitted for applying for KC mark certification
KC mark certification will replace EK mic mark certification
The biggest impact is that South Korea will classify audio-visual (AV) products, some information (it) products and originally non mandatory power supplies for personal computer as 'voluntary safety verification', and the certificate is valid for five years. The audio-visual products and some information products that have applied for EK mark will be automatically converted to new categories in the system of Korean license issuing units, and the validity period of the certificate is from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2013.
In addition, South Korea has unified the original EK mark into KC (Korea certification) mark certification since July 1, 2009. Since the mark conversion does not affect the certification safety standard, there is no need to update the original certificate, but the original EK mark certification will only be used until June 30, 2011. After that, the logo on the product nameplate must be converted into KC mark certification before it can be sold in South Korea.
